Well, here we go…..my first stab at a product review.
Still trying to learn the whole CapCut program and not finding it to be as intuitive as I was hoping. Especially when it comes to editing and trying to add text.
Turns out, if you are not a paid member, many if not most of the fonts are prorietary and cost money. You don’t really realize that until you are trying to save your product and you see these little diamond icons that were not real noticable when selecting your font style. Live and learn.
As far as the review, I was overall fairly pleased. The camera angle was not quite what I was wanting, the lighting was just a bit off, and I made a verbal mistatement about the Lenth of Pull for the shotgun. Overall, not too bad for my first go.
As far as the particulars, this review is for a Yildiz Legacy HP 28 guage over and under shotgun, sold exclusively at Academy. I have absoultely fallen in love with mine. It is light, fits me about perfectly, has beautiful wood for a budget shotgun, and has functioned flawlessly on a couple of hunts and several rounds of skeet.
Mine is a 28 gauge but they come in 12, 20, and 28 guage as well as .410. The 28 guage has 28″ barrels which is about ideal for an all around shotgun, weighs in at 6 pounds, has a LOP of 14 3/4 inches, and an overall length of 44 inches.
They come with 5 extended choke tubes, Cylinder, IC, M, LM, and Full, so for a lot of applications, you will not need to purchase any additional chokes for a while. When you do, unfortunately, they are proprietary and the exact models included are not available for purchase. Aftermarket tubes from Briley and TruLock and others are available, but they must be ordered as Yildiz chokes are unique to that brand, and they are not a match in terms of looks. That is one of the very few knocks I have on these shotguns.
Having said that, they are sub $500 shotguns that are beautiful, functional, and well worth the cost. I have owned a Beretta and a Remington Peerless shotguns in the past, and while they are definitely higher quality shotguns, made for many thousands of rounds, if you are a hunter and ocassional/seasonal clay bird shooter, this budget line of shotguns will serve you well for many years. And they will garner second looks at the gun club from folks thinking they cost a lot more than they do.
Hopefully this review will be helpful to someone potentially considering getting into the O/U shotgun world, or just wanting/needing a nice shotgun for working man’s wages.
